Target Cultural Experiences Program (TCEP)

This season, CTC welcomed more than 3,300 second graders and 360 teachers to a free performance through the Target Cultural Experiences Program (TCEP), a new partnership with Target and Minneapolis Public Schools that provides free, grade-level field trips to Twin Cities arts and cultural organizations for MPS students. Students and teachers saw a performance of either Charlotte’s Web or The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites. With support from Target, CTC was able to provide this opportunity to all Minneapolis second graders—at no cost to schools, students, or families. Participating classrooms also received access to curriculum materials and other resources designed to help teachers and students connect their theatre experience to other learning goals. In February, CTC was honored to host MPS superintendent Bernadeia Johnson and her staff at a TCEP performance of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites. See highlights from Dr. Johnson’s visit and learn more about the TCEP in the March 2014 segment of MPS’ School Matters series here.

"This was an amazing experience. My students had a blast and I felt like this really enriched their educational experience. I am so grateful that I could watch my students experience theatre for the first time for many of them."
– Second grade teacher, Minneapolis Public Schools
