CTC and the Seuss Connection
Children’s Theatre Company has the distinct honor of being the first theatre in the world to put Dr. Seuss’ (Theodor Geisel) work on stage. In 1973, after working directly with Dr. Seuss in the development of the play, CTC presented the world premiere of Dr. Seuss’ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. When Dr. Seuss saw the script he exclaimed, “My God, that’s Seussian!” CTC went on to be the first theatre to develop Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the production has become a treasured part of CTC’s repertoire. Here are a few photos from past productions of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
