A Message to the Community 9/3/19

Children’s Theatre Company is grateful to announce the recent settlement of a suit brought against CTC by an individual who was sexually abused by a former employee in the 1980s. The legal process for other plaintiffs is ongoing, and we will continue to work towards resolutions that help all survivors.

This settlement now means that the trial scheduled to begin on October 21, 2019 will not take place, and no other trials are scheduled.

We are thankful that we have been able to provide resources and settlements to 7 of the survivors—female and male—and are working tirelessly towards settlements for all the survivors.

CTC announced in August a series of actions that include establishing a Survivor’s Fund at the conclusion of the legal process, publishing and sharing our current, stringent Adult Youth Engagement Policy with new language that acknowledges the abuse in the 1970s and early 80s, hosting a community forum on September 16th, and launching a speakers series dedicated to bringing expert voices on Survivor support, child abuse prevention, and art and healing to our community later this season.

We continue to seek and greatly value the community’s ideas, thoughts, comments, and questions. Please share them with us at [email protected].

Sincerely,
