Talking with Children About Race
CTC presents a free workshop for parents led by Alicia Sojourner of the YWCA Racial Justice program. Research shows children can develop racial biases at three years old, despite the attitudes of the adults in their lives. This workshop introduces the tools necessary to building respect and understanding.
Wednesday, April 29th, 6:30-8pm: Email Deb Girdwood, Director of Access and Special Programs, to register. A confirmation email will be sent prior to the workshop.
CHILDCARE PROVIDED UPON REQUEST: If you requested on-site childcare during the workshop, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate the number of children, ages, and any info our childcare providers may need to know to plan for the group. The children will be led to a different space in CTC for theatre arts based activities and playtime led by Teaching Assistants in CTC's Theatre Arts Training program. Note: we are only able to accommodate children who are able to use bathrooms on their own.
CTC is excited to partner with YWCA of Minneapolis and align with their mission to break through the barriers that perpetuate racism for this event. The YWCA is dedicated to promoting racial equity by partnering with individuals, organizations and businesses through racial justice training, consulting, advocacy, outreach and education.
