1. Annie Auditions
Auditions for CTC's spring production of Annie will take place on October 10-12. For the first time in CTC history, auditions (for girls only 8-16 years old) will be held at Mall of America®. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. We are excited that you and your child are interested in auditions for Annie. Please be sure to carefully review the information sheets and production calendar before registering your child to audition. Any child cast in Annie must be able to meet commitments, including all rehearsals and performances. For all LAB auditions or interviews please bring a resume of theatre or dance experience (simple formatting with listing of training and performance experience will suffice).
Please prepare the following for each LAB audition: - Acting Lab: Your resume and a one minute monologue that you have found and prepared on your own – without coaching from former directors or teachers.
- PlayRite Lab: Your resume and a short writing sample – It does not have to be a play. It can be any medium.
- Dancer Lab: Your resume and come prepared to move in dance appropriate attire.
- Directing Lab: Your resume and be prepared to talk about your theatre experience.
Musical Theatre Jam Intensive audition dates:
Musical Theatre Jam Intensive (by audition only): Grades 6 - 8
Hone your skills and strengthen the techniques needed to succeed in the highly competitive world of musical theatre. Using both contemporary and classic Broadway material, students will be taught healthy vocal/singing production, dance combinations and deepen their understanding of character development while learning to seamlessly combine these disciplines. Grades 6 – 8: Auditions are Tuesday Sept 7th 6p - 8p. Class meets Saturdays from 9:30am - 12pm *Please prepare 16 bars of your favorite Musical Theatre song to be sung acapella and wear clothes appropriate for movement.
Musical Theatre Jam Intensive (by audition only): Grades 9 -12 Hone your skills and strengthen the techniques needed to succeed in the highly competitive world of musical theatre, accepted students will work to both deepen their understanding and create seamless transitions between song-dialogue-dance. Using both contemporary and classic Broadway material, students will focus on the incorporation of vocal and physical articulation. An audition workshop will be offered to interested students. Auditions for our FALL SHOW - Shakespeare\'s Love’s Labours\' Lost (a modern tale): Grades 9 -12 Directed by Suzy Messerole (Associate Artistic Director History Theatre) Description: Love’s Labours’ Lost is a Shakespearean coming-of-age story. Four college students take a vow to become serious scholars by renouncing earthly pleasures – specifically, women. The arrival of a contingency from France quickly calls into question the wisdom of such a vow. Set in the present, and exploring contemporary themes, Love’s Labours’ Lost is a story of questioning the true nature of knowledge, encountering love (and loss) for the first time, and the sometimes painful, sometimes beautiful journey of growing up.
Rehearsal: Tuesday and Thursday 5-8pm, Fridays 4-6:30pm
Dress rehearsal: November 18th 7pm Preview: November 19th 7pm
Performances: November 20th, 21th 7pm and November 22th 2pm

Please come prepared to do cold-readings and group activities to audition.
General Audition Information
Auditions for student actors between the ages of 8 and 18 are held at various times during the year depending on the needs of each production. The auditions take the form of sample classes, allowing groups of students to act, sing, dance, and interact. No preparation is needed and students need to dress comfortably for movement. The student actor positions are unpaid.
Auditions for adult Equity and non-Equity actors are held periodically throughout the year. Preparation is needed and based on the specific needs of each production. Adult actor positions are paid. All auditions are listed in the Minneapolis Star Tribune in Section 550 and in the St. Paul Pioneer Press in Section 20.
Students between the ages of 8 and 18 may audition to enroll in the Theatre Arts Training classes. Auditions are held for Fall, Winter, and Summer Sessions. Call 612.879.5685 or visit the Theatre Arts Training page for more information and upcoming auditions.
