Theatre Arts Training

No-Nut Policy

Please note: to ensure the safety of all of our students, we have a strict no-nut policy for both peanuts and tree-nuts (including hazelnut products such as Nutella).

Our Philosophy

Theatre Arts Training is a process-based program dedicated to providing professional theatre experiences and education to build curious, creative, and confident young artists and people. We are more interested in what happens along the journey, from the first day to the last, than in a polished product. With this focus on the education experience, our camps take place in classrooms and rehearsal halls, not on stages.

All students are welcome to participate in all classes (with the exception of audition-based programs). We acknowledge and support that engagement and success looks different for each student, and our faculty prioritizes keeping their teaching style, activities, and goals flexible to the needs of our students.

We strive to supply students with source material from diverse perspectives representing communities from a multitude of ethnic and racial backgrounds, economic statuses, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

Inclusion Statement

As part of CTC’s commitment to access and inclusion, we make intentional choices in our classroom practices to make sure we are a welcoming space for peoples of all abilities, ethnicity, economic status, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Our program includes need-based scholarships, all-gender restrooms, introductions with pronouns, and a faculty happy to work with families to meet students’ individual physical, learning, and social needs. If there are ways we can be welcoming to your family, please let us know at education@childrenstheatre.org

Commitment to Accessibility

We are committed to supporting access needs, respecting capacities, uplifting talents and life experience, and honoring each individual’s autonomy. As part of CTC’s core value of inclusion, we strive to create learning environments that are designed for all students. We acknowledge and affirm that learning and engagement look different for every student. We are excited to work all students into our programs and welcome students with disabilities, neurodivergent conditions, mental illnesses, and adverse childhood experiences. We are happy to include students using AAC, welcome personal care assistants into our classrooms, and arrange for ASL interpretation. Our staff has experience with activity modifications, in-class supports, and individualized learn plans and are eager to work in partnership with your family to create a positive experience for your student.

You can connect with us about your student’s needs on your Medical Information Form or email us at education@childrenstheatre.org.

COVID-19 Safety Policies & Practices for School Year Education Classes and Summer Camps

In addition to following all guidelines and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Minnesota Department of Health, and our local leadership, Children’s Theatre Company is grateful to be developing our COVID-19 Safety Practices and Policies with the Minnesota Department of Health. We will be updating our practices and policies as the guidelines change.

As of September 5, 2022, Children’s Theatre Company recommends and encourages that parents and students wear a mask in the building and classrooms. Masks are no longer required to attend class or camp at CTC.

CTC has invested in a clean air filtration system, including adding MERV-13 air filters and iWave ionic air purification system in all our HVAC systems to optimize the amount of clean, fresh air through the building. CTC will continue to enhance cleaning and sanitization protocols.

Due to the ever-evolving nature of the pandemic, CTC reserves the right to amend/change these COVID Policies to ensure the safety of the students and staff. Families will be notified in writing of any changes or adjustments to these policies

Refund Policies

A full refund is offered if CTC cancels an in-person class before the first day of programming.

A refund minus the $50 cancellation fee is given if you cancel more than two weeks before your class begins. No refund will be issued if you cancel class less than two weeks before the start of class.

No refund or credit will be issued if a student is registered for an age-inappropriate program and CTC staff determine it to be an unsuccessful fit.
