Extend Your Experience: Fun Activities Inspired by The Enormous Crocodile

Posted on October 1, 2025

Thank you for joining us for Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile The Musical! The adventure doesn’t have to end when you leave the theatre—keep the excitement going with these crocodile-inspired activities. From a crafty way to send the sneaky croc into the sun, to a delicious coconut pudding recipe, to a chomping good card game, these activities are perfect for the whole family to enjoy together.

Activity: Croco-Rocket!

The Enormous Crocodile is determined to eat as many little children as he can, how awful! In order to stop him, we need to get rid of him… But how could we possibly get rid of such a nasty crocodile?… By sending him hurtling into the sun, of course! Complete this craft, send the crocodile into the sun, and save the little children!

Materials Needed:

  • Print out coloring PDF: Download here
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Hole Punch
  • Black construction paper
  • Favorite coloring tools (markers, crayons, paint, etc.)
  • Glue stick
  • Tape (any kind)

Instructions:

  1. Print out the coloring sheet PDF and color in the sun, stars, and crocodile.
  2. Cut out all of the colored-in shapes and glue the sun and stars onto a piece of black construction paper. Make sure to glue the sun at the top of the construction paper.
  3. Hole punch once at the top and once at the bottom of the construction paper. Make sure that one of the holes is located at the top of the sun near the edge of the paper.
  4. Cut a piece of string that is twice as long as your piece of paper.
  5. Use tape to stick the back of the crocodile on the middle of the string.
  6. Thread the string through the holes on your paper and tie a knot on the blank side of the paper. The string should be loose enough so that you can pull it and the crocodile will move easily on the front of your paper.
  7. Now that you’re all done, save the town by pulling the string and sending the crocodile into the sun!

Recipe: Coconut Pudding

The children in the village love to eat fresh coconuts off of the trees… But they need to be careful that there aren’t any crocodiles pretending to be trees. Let’s keep ourselves safe from the Enormous Crocodile by using canned coconut milk from the grocery store to make a delicious pudding! Make sure to ask for help from an adult before using the stove.

Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 20 minutes + 4 hours to cool

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of coconut milk, 12-15oz each (full fat works best)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • Optional garnishes: berries, coconut flakes, pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg

Utensils:

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Medium saucepan
  • Spatula
  • Optional: fine mesh sieve
  • Serving dishes or large bowl

Instructions:

  1. In the mixing bowl, add your dry ingredients (sugar, salt, and cornstarch). Pour in ½ cup of your coconut milk. Whisk everything together until the dry ingredients are completely dissolved into a slurry. The slurry should be completely smooth and have no lumps.
  2. Pour the rest of your coconut milk into your saucepan and heat it on medium-low. Stir the coconut milk occasionally with a spatula to make sure no crust forms on the bottom of your saucepan. Bring the coconut milk to a simmer, NOT a boil.
  3. Once the coconut milk has started to simmer, combine your slurry into the saucepan. Whisk it continuously for the next 3-5 minutes until the pudding becomes thick.
  4. When your pudding has reached the consistency of yogurt, remove the saucepan from the heat and turn off the stove. Add your vanilla and stir it into the pudding.
  5. Optional: Use your spatula to push your pudding through a fine mesh sieve to get any remaining lumps out.
  6. Pour the pudding into your desired serving dishes or a large bowl. Let it chill completely in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
  7. Once the pudding has chilled, serve! Optional: Top with a garnish of your choice.

Game: CHOMP!

Let’s pretend to be crocodiles and CHOMP with our enormous jaws… But by using a hand on a deck of cards instead of our mouths. Get a group of family or friends together and try out this card game! There must be at least two players.

Materials Needed:

  • One standard deck of cards

Instructions:

  • Have one player deal out all of the cards face down so that all players have an even number of cards in front of them.
  • Each player will take turns flipping one card face up and placing it in the middle of the playing surface. All players should be able to easily reach this middle deck.
  • If a card is placed in the middle that is the SAME value as the card that already facing upwards (for example, you flip a 7 over and place it on top of a 7 that the player before you had flipped over), you must be the first person to put your hand on top of the face up deck and yell, “CHOMP!” These pairings are called “doubles.”
  • The player who collects ALL of the cards will be the winner.
  • Penalties:
    • If a player is trying to hover their hand over the middle deck, they must put 1 of their cards at the bottom of the middle deck.
    • If a player slaps and does NOT yell, “CHOMP!” they must put 2 of their cards at the bottom of the middle deck.
    • If a player slaps and there is NOT a double on the middle deck, they must put 2 cards at the bottom of the middle deck.
    • If a player is out of cards, they are STILL allowed to try and slap back into the game.
