CTC + Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund

CTC is honored to receive support from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF), created through the 2008 Legacy Amendment to the Minnesota Constitution. Learn all about the ACHF and other funds created through the Legacy Amendment here.

At CTC, the Legacy Amendment has fueled dozens of projects for young people and their communities, including:

  • The Greater Minnesota tour of Seedfolks, which featured actor Sonja Parks giving life to 14 characters determined to build a garden in a vacant lot. Seedfolks visited nine Minnesota communities for performances and engagement activities.

  • The development of CTC’s Sensory Friendly performances, in partnership with Autism Society of Minnesota and Fraser. These specially modified theatre experiences serve thousands of individuals with ASD, PTSD, anxiety, and other social and cognitive disabilities every year.
  • The creation of Early Bridges, a critical literacy program for children in grades 1 and 2. Early Bridges aims to transform children into storytellers of their own lives. The program continues to demonstrate that strong early oral narrative skills are crucial in developing literacy and academic success in elementary school and beyond.
  • An after-school arts learning program to develop theatre skills with gender-diverse and LGBTQ+-allied teens. The experience culminated in public performances of Devising Gender on CTC’s Cohen Stage.

Ongoing support from the ACHF allows CTC to:

  • Commission, develop, and premiere new plays and musicals for multigenerational audiences.
  • Hire and maintain talented artists who create extraordinary theatre experiences from our home in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis.
  • Expand innovative education programs throughout the Twin Cities that serve infants to high schoolers.
