Learn from theatre professionals across the country in audition technique, performance skills, design, and more. Each session lasts 90 minutes to two hours and feature instructional time with tips of the trade as well as a Q&A section for participants to directly engage with each artist.
Theatre + Social Justice with H. Adam Harris (Grades 6 – 12)
Are you looking for ways to make change through art? Join artist and cultural equity consultant, H. Adam Harris for an interactive workshop on the intersection of art and identity. Focus on the investigation of self and how to use the tools of the artist to engage in heart-first conversation and activism, whether onstage or at the bus stop.

Song Coaching with Laura Osnes (Grades 4 – 12)
Get ready to nail your next audition! Students will prepare their best 32-bar audition cut and get direct feedback from two-time Tony Award nominee, Laura Osnes. Osnes will lead students through specific techniques to help calm nerves, build confidence, and most importantly, excel at the art of storytelling through song. Students will leave equipped with tools to make a lasting impression and take every vocal audition to the next level.
Choose from two ways to participate:
Learn by Doing* – prepare 16 bars of song and present it live for the group, receive coaching and instruction from Osnes, then perform again incorporating adjustments (only 12 spots available).
Learn by Watching – get the same great tips and tricks as you watch your peers present and receive feedback, then apply it to your work at your own pace.
*Learn by Doing participants will be asked to provide their own song selection and submit sheet music two weeks in advance. CTC will record a track of your song selection for you to sing along with when you present during the master class.

Monologue Workshop with Don Darryl Rivera (Grades 4 – 12)
Get your monologue audition ready with Broadway’s own Don Darryl Rivera (Iago in Disney’s Aladdin, OBC). Coaching actors through a physical approach to their work, Rivera will work with students to break idiosyncrasies and free the body through dynamic movement. Students will learn how to make bold physical choices to serve the words and paint a clearer monologue picture.

Learn by Doing* – prepare a monologue and present it live for the group, receive coaching and instruction from Rivera, then perform again incorporating adjustments (only 12 spots available)
Learn by Watching – get the same great tips and tricks as you watch your peers present and receive feedback, then apply it to your work at your own pace.
*Learn by Doing participants will be asked to provide their own monologue and submit it one week in advance along with character description and scene summary.

Do you love costumes, fashion, drawing clothes, or other textile arts? Learn about the field of costume design from award-winning international designer, Helen Huang (costume designer of CTC’s Matilda the Musical). Helen will share her design process from research to final product with suggestions for projects you can do at home. The last 30 minutes will be a moderated Q&A for students to ask Helen their own specific design questions.

Master Class: Theatre + Social Justice
H. Adam Harris is an actor, director, teaching artist, and cultural equity consultant. He works at the intersection of theatre, education, social justice, and community engagement. Recent theatrical credits include puppeteering and voicing the title role of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax in the U.S premiere at the Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) and The Old Globe Theatre. H. Adam is the Education Coordinator at the Playwrights’ Center; a resident teaching artist with the Guthrie Theater and CTC, and a freelance equity, diversity, and inclusion consultant for various organizations.

Master Class: Song Coaching
LAURA OSNES is a two-time Tony Award nominee for her memorable performances in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Drama Desk Award) and Bonnie & Clyde. Other Broadway: Bandstand, Anything Goes, South Pacific, Grease. She has starred in two Hallmark original movies, In The Key Of Love and A Homecoming For The Holidays and been seen on tv in Fosse/Verdon (F/X), Dynasty (CW), and Elementary (CBS). Other NY/regional: The Scarlet Pimpernel and Crazy For You (Manhattan Concert Productions), The Threepenny Opera (Atlantic Theater); The Band Wagon, Pipe Dream (City Center Encores!); The Sound of Music (Carnegie Hall), Carousel (Lyric Opera of Chicago), On The Town (Boston Pops). In addition to touring with the Broadway Princess Party concert series she co-created, her extensive cabaret and symphony concert career has included broadcast performances with the The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Live From Lincoln Center (PBS), The Kennedy Center Honors (CBS), A Capitol Fourth (PBS), American Songbook (PBS), Six By Sondheim (HBO), and more. Master Class: Monologue Workshop
Don Darryl Rivera is a multi-award winning theatre artist from Seattle, Washington. In 2013 he originated the role of Iago in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. He is still there 7 years later, having played the part 2503 times! Favorite regional credits include: The Guthrie Theater, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, The 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, and Children’s Theatre Company. Don Darryl is also an accomplished playwright and composer. He received his BFA from Cornish College of the Arts. @dondarrylrivera
