NOTE: When registering your child for CTC camps, please select the grade that your student will be entering in the fall, not the grade that they are currently in or have recently completed. If you have questions or want to explore alternative options, please contact us at 612.874.0400.
Discovery Theatre | Grade 1
Our first grade camps focus on imaginative play around a theme, book or idea. Campers work collaboratively to develop an original performance piece to showcase the week’s learning.
Discovery Theatre | Grade 2
Second grade camps are specifically designed for early readers and combine theatre games, visual art and music to create an original play based on the week’s theme. Students will work together to develop the script, characters and designs.
Discovery Theatre | Grade 3
Third grade camps focus on more advanced storytelling and script generation. Rooted in a new theme each week, campers will be introduced to the fundamentals of acting, devising and performance skills.
Summer Studio | Grades 4-6
Campers are introduced to the foundations of various elements of theatrical development. Our professional teaching artists create student-centered experiences in which students’ ideas, skills, and abilities take center stage.
Summer Studio | Grades 6-8
Students can choose from camps that will flex their musical theatre, acting, and designing muscles. Students can focus on creating original scenes and plays, learning new songs and choreography, or building fantastic worlds.
Summer Studio | Grades 9-12
The sky’s the limit. Students have options to dive into multiple theatre-making options. From half-day camps to two-week intensives, camps and this level challenge students in performance and design skills.
Which Camp is Right for Your Student
Each summer camp is a unique experience with a different approach to theatre and different learning outcomes. Use the icons below to help choose the right style of camp for your student.
Triple Threat Summer Intensive
Theatre Arts Training’s performance opportunities are specifically designed for students who have a demonstrated commitment to their craft as performers. Students work with peers and industry professionals to produce a play or musical. During this five-week intensive, students will spend their mornings in studio classes, advancing voice and dance skills, while afternoons are dedicated to rehearsal. The Triple Threat intensive performs on our Cargill Stage.
Summer Labs Camps
Summer Labs (SL) are half-day camps designed for students who are interested in learning more about a variety of aspects of story making and design, including costume design, makeup design, movie making, screenwriting, and more!
Discovery Theatre Camps
Discovery Theatre (DT) camps focus on students exploring imagination and storytelling as they build characters, create scenes, and work together to invent their own short play based on the theme.
World Premiere Camps
World Premiere (WP) camps focus on creating original scenes or plays through acting exercises, group brainstorm, and improvisation. Scripts are generated by the students.
Stagecraft Camps
Stagecraft (SC) camps use visual art such as puppets, scenery creation, or props as a starting point for theatrical creation.
Showtime Camps
Showtime (ST) camps rehearse and perform from existing scripts. Students will perform an adapted version of the script, so each student has a chance to shine.
Musical Theatre Camps
Musical Theatre (MT) camps rehearse dances, scenes, and songs from existing musicals.
