What are Theatre Arts Training Summer Camps?


Children’s Theatre Company summer camps provide experience to build curious, creative, and confident young people. With 11 weeks of camp, each week brings a new adventure for students in grades K-12.

NOTE: When registering your child for CTC camps, please select the grade that your student is currently in or has recently completed, not the grade that they will be entering. If you have questions or want to explore alternative options, please contact us at 612.874.0400.

TAT Camps Grades K

Summer Adventurers | Grade K 

Our kindergarten camps focus on imaginative play around a theme, book or ideaCampers work collaboratively to develop an original performance piece to showcase the week’s learning.  

 

TAT Camps Grades 1

Summer Adventurers | Grade 1

First grade camps are specifically designed for early readers and combine theatre games, visual art and music to create an original play based on the week’s theme. Students will work together to develop the script, characters and designs.

 

TAT Camps Grades 2

Summer Adventurers | Grade 2 

Second grade camps focus on more advanced storytelling and script generation. Rooted in a new theme each week, campers will be introduced to the fundamentals of acting, devising and performance skills

 

TAT Camps Grades 3

Summer Studio | Grades 3-5

Campers are introduced to the foundations of various elements of theatrical development. Our professional teaching artists create student-centered experiences in which students’ ideas, skills, and abilities take center stage.

 

Summer Studio | Grades 6-8

Students can choose from camps that will flex their musical theatre, acting, and designing muscles. Students can focus on creating original scenes and plays, learning new songs and choreography, or building fantastic worlds.

 

TAT Intensive Rehearsal

Summer Studio | Grades 9-12

The sky’s the limit. Students have options to dive into multiple theatre-making options. From half-day camps to two-week intensives, camps and this level challenge students in performance and design skills.

CTC offers a wide range of camps for a variety of interests. All students are welcome to participate in all classes (except for audition-based programs). We acknowledge and support that engagement and success looks different for each student, and our faculty prioritizes keeping their teaching style, activities, and goals flexible to the needs of our students.

TAT Intensive The Garden

Triple Threat Summer Intensive

Theatre Arts Training’s performance opportunities are specifically designed for students who have a demonstrated commitment to their craft as performers. Students work with peers and industry professionals to produce a play or musical.  During this five-week intensive, students will spend their mornings in studio classes, advancing voice and dance skills, while afternoons are dedicated to rehearsal. The Triple Threat intensive performs on our Cargill Stage.

Summer Labs Camps

Summer Labs are half-day camps designed for students who are interested in learning more about a variety of aspects of storymaking and design, including costume design, makeup design, movie making, screenwriting, and more!

 

Summer Adventurers Camps

Summer Adventurers camps focus on dramatic play to explore characters, settings, and themes with an interdisciplinary approach, including visual art, movement, books, and music.

 

World Premiere Camps

World Premiere (WP) camps focus on creating original scenes or plays through acting exercises, group brainstorming, and improvisation. Students in these camps are not given scripts but rather work collaboratively to create an original performance piece that is unique to them.

 

Stagecraft Camps

Stagecraft (SC) camps use visual art such as puppets, scenery creation, or props as a starting point for theatrical creation—perfect for all makers, creators, and crafts people!  Stagecraft camps combine performance and theatrical design for a unique experience.

 

Showtime Camps

Showtime (ST) camps rehearse and perform from existing scripts, providing practical experience in bringing a play from the script to the stage.

 

TAT Hamilton Camp

Musical Theatre Camps

Musical Theatre (MT) camps rehearse dances, scenes, and songs from existing musicals. Students in Musical Theatre camps will have the opportunity to work with a professional choreographer and music director.

Musical Theatre Intensive Camps

Musical Theatre Intensive (MTI) camps are two-week camps offering a deeper experience with some of today’s most-loved musicals. Perfect for those students who are looking to advance their musical theatre training by working with industry professionals.

Extended Care


Children’s Theatre Company offers Extended Care for students in all K-12 camps. Before and/or after camp, your child will participate in free play and organized activities with CTC’s education staff.

• Morning Extended Care is offered from 8-9:30am

• Afternoon Extended Care is offered from 3:30-5:30pm

 Extended Care: AM Only $60/week │ PM Only $60/week │ AM and PM $100/week
