We Create for the Most Important Audience in the World
At Children’s Theatre Company (CTC), we are looking for artists who are not only exceptional in their craft, but passionate about shaping the next generation of creatives and critical thinkers. As the largest and most acclaimed theatre for young people in the country, we are proud to create theatre that educates, challenges, and inspires more than 250,000 audience members each year.
We are committed to producing world-class work and developing new plays that redefine what theatre for young audiences can be—over 200 new works to date. CTC is a place for artistic excellence, experimentation, and meaningful collaboration.
But it’s also something more.
At CTC, we don’t just create theatre for young people—we create theatre with them.
Many of our productions include student actors, ages 10 to 18, who take on age-appropriate roles and contribute deeply to the artistic process. We view our rehearsal halls as spaces for growth—not just for the young people we work with, but for the artists who join us in leading them.
Artists Who Thrive at CTC…
Are mentors as much as makers.
They care about excellence, not ego.
They lead with integrity, patience, clarity, and creativity.
They model professionalism and inspire confidence in young collaborators.
They understand that great artistry and great humanity go hand in hand.
We believe theatre is more than entertainment—it is a vehicle for developing real-life skills: resilience, collaboration, curiosity, preparation, and accountability. As an artist at CTC, you help teach those values. You empower young people to rise to meaningful expectations and to see themselves as part of something larger than themselves.
We believe in holding the bar high, not to intimidate—but to uplift.
Because that’s how we grow great artists.
And that’s how we grow capable, thoughtful, dynamic human beings.
We are also deeply committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diverse community we serve. We want artists of all backgrounds and identities to feel they belong here. We are continuously working to dismantle barriers and make CTC a place where everyone—staff, artists, and students—can thrive and be seen.
Why Work at CTC?
Because you want to reconnect with the heart of why you became an artist.
Because you want to work with a passionate team who values rigor, care, and purpose.
Because you’re inspired by young people who bring everything they have to the stage—and ask you to do the same.
Because you believe theatre can change lives.
The audience is ready. The young artists are waiting.
We hope you’ll join us.
